Terra Mítica/Aqualandia
If you're looking for a real family day out, then head for Terra Mítica, located close to the resort of Benidorm. This exciting theme park (owned by Paramount) can be reached in around 2 hours from the city by car . Also in Benidorm is the popular Aqualandia water park. See Links for more information.
Alicante
The historic city of Alicante is often missed by the British en route from its airport to the more popular resorts on the Costa Blanca. Take the time to discover its attractive centre with an excellent array of shops and a chic marina. Two hours by car (via A7) or 1.5 hours by train (high speed link). A light railway also links Alicante with Denia. The line follows a picturesque route along the coast (literally on the beach at one point!) and up into the hills. Highly recommended, but allow plenty of time as the the journey can take close on 3 hours!
