Las Fallas - 15th to 19th of March
Fiestas play a major part in Spanish culture and Valencia has more than its fair share. The most famous of them all is known as 'Las Fallas' and is held in the city between the 15th and 19th of March. Celebrations actually begin on the 1st of March, but it is the erection of ’Las Fallas’ that signal the party has really started! These huge effigies (around 350 of them) are constructed from wood, plaster and papier-mâché and normally take the form of brightly painted caricatures. They spring up all over the city and mercilessly lampoon celebrities and politicians alike. Five days of fireworks, madness and mayhem culminate in the simultaneous burning of all Las Fallas on the final night. Not to be missed! More info >>>
2009 Americas Cup Yacht Race And European F1 Grand Prix!
With the resounding success of the 2007 America's Cup it has now been confirmed that the event is to return to Valencia once again in 2009.
On top of this, and perhaps more significant is the news that Valencia is to host the European F1 Grand Prix for 7 years, starting in August 2008. The race will take place on a street circuit which will include the harour area bringing comparisons to the Monaco GP.
This is sure to raise Valencia's profile to an all time high, particularly with all the current British interest in Lewis Hamilton.
Great news for property owners and those thinking of buying in the near future.
