The Falla are usually Caricatures of celebrities or politicians. Imagine a ‘Spitting Image’ puppet but the height of a five-storey building and you begin to get the picture!
The five days of the main event consists of round-the-clock partying, with every district holding it's own celebrations, usually in the street. Tuneless bands wake those who dare to sleep!
Every night (in the early hours) there's an impressive firework display, with rival manufacturers competing to put on the best show and, IT’S ALL FREE!
The finale to the week sees the burning of Las Fallas. At the stroke of midnight, street-lighting across the city is turned off, as the effigies (around 350 of them) are simultaneously set alight and burnt to the ground.
