Valencia is famous across Spain for its lively nightlife. In fact it's not unusual for habitants of Barcelona and Madrid to make the journey down, just to take in a Friday or Saturday night!
Many bars only open Thursday to Saturday, and the clubs Friday and Saturday nights only. Bars in general (especially those with dance floors) don't start to fill up until around midnight. In the Summer months they're supposed to close at 3am on week day nights, and at 4am on Fridays and Saturdays. For winter, the hours are reduced by thirty minutes. The vast majority don't charge any admission.
Clubs on the other hand, usually open at midnight, but won't get going until after the bars close. You can then expect to party on until at least 6am. There is usually a charge to go in, but this often includes your first drink. Sometimes it's possible to pick up a promotional flyer in one of the bars which will qualify you for discounted admission.
