Serious clubbers are more likely to make for one of the huge out of town 'super clubs' that stretch out along the N332, Valencia-Alicante Road. This is often referred to as 'La Ruta del Bacalao'. Bacalao being a type of hard-core techno music that originated in the discos around Valencia.

It's quite common for clubbers to move from one discoteca to the next. As one closes for the night, another will be opening, allowing you to dance well into the following day. The down side associated with 'La Ruta' is the inordinate number of road traffic accidents, due mainly to fatigue, drug use or excess alcohol.

A safer way to sample this particular strand of Valencian night life, is to take the special disco train that runs out of La Estación del Norte on Saturday nights. The service leaves at 1-15am for the station at El Romani and then makes a return journey at 6-15am. El Romani is conveniently close to Bananas which proclaims itself to be a 'maxi disco' and with a capacity of several thousand, rightfully so!

The bigger clubs usually have several different dance floors and outside areas for the summer months. Of the better known are Chocolate, Puzzle, Spook and Sound Factory. See links for additional details on Chocolate and Bananas.
