| The centre of Valencia has a dazzling array of designer shops and department stores to suit all tastes and pockets. It's also
still possible to find traditional gypsy markets selling bargain clothes and silks.
El Corte Ingles is probably the biggest department store in Spain and you'll find several large branches in the city. You can buy pretty much everything under
one roof, from electrical goods and clothes, to CD's, furniture and food.
For your weekly groceries, the supermarket chain Mercadona has a presence in most towns around Valencia . They also offer a comprehensive on-line shopping and
delivery service (subject to area).
Traditionalists though may prefer to see what the Mercado Central has to offer. There you'll find in excess of 900 stalls offering a bewildering selection of fresh Mediterranean produce including fruit, vegetables, meat and sea food. Even if you're not buying, it makes for a worthwhile excursion (about five minutes walk from La Plaza de Ayuntamiento).
Many of the larger supermarket outlets and DIY chains are situated in convenient out of town commercial centres.
